Bruce Springsteen on the Today show

by tv-now 9/28/2007 6:29:44 PM

Bruce Springsteen was outside our HQ today. Sort of. Down the block, but still. He was great, playing Rockefeller Plaza for the Today show. Kind of jarring, though, to see Silvio Dante up there with him. They sang "Promised Land," "Radio Nowhere," "Last to Die," "Long Walk Home," "My Hometown,” "Night” and "Living in the Future."

Love these concerts for the morning shows, in midtown Manhattan. Glad they didn’t end with the summer. This is who is up next, outdoors. (There are a bunch “in studio,” but I’m not counting them):

7:00 am/ET Matchbox Twenty
7:00 am/ET Chaka Khan

Good Morning America — those wimps! — closed up the outdoor concert shop at the end of August.

Springsteen, by the way, was here to plug his CD "Magic," which “drops” on Tuesday. Buy it, if for no other reason than so he’ll play here again when it’s time to promote the next CD. Click on El Bruce's face to hear the tune and his political thoughts.

Pocket Watch Weekend 9.28 – 9.30 Edition

by tv-now 9/28/2007 6:28:37 PM

David Letterman, CBS, 11:35 pm/ET, Friday
That Paris Hilton is on again. So here’s an idea for a drinking game: Let’s see how many times she says “thank you” in that fake polite, baby-talk voice of hers. I’m going for 10.

Saturday Night Live, NBC, 11:19 pm/ET, Saturday
For all the drama that Maya Rudolph was doling out about whether she was staying or going, the girl better at least do one Whitney sketch. Guest host is LeBron James and musical guest is Kanye West. How pissed is 50?

Cops: 20 Years… Caught on Tape, Fox, 8 pm/ET, Saturday
You know this is going to be hilarious.

Cold Case, CBS, 9pm/ET, Sunday
According to silly things like ratings, America apparently digs this show. So let’s check it out. Plus, when I was at Best Week Ever, the lead actress from Cold Case, Kathryn Morris, came in and was very cool and a big fan of BWE. Also on the show is One Day at a Time’s Mackenzie Phillips, clearly trying to get back in the spotlight since Valerie Bertinelli is getting airtime courtesy of Jenny Craig and a few lost pounds. Let’s see what effect all those drugs taken in her youth have had on her.
(In the rhyming category, Mackenzie is in Without a Trace, on Oct. 4th. It's a repeat, though, on TNT.)

Rock of Love, VH1, 9 pm/ET, Sunday
Even if you haven’t been watching, and I haven’t, how can this finale not be the best train wreck?

Dexter, Showtime, 9 pm/ET, Sunday
A hot serial killer who’s not Ted Bundy. It’s finally time I started watching this.
BELOW, DEXTER SHOWS WHY HE'S A PAIN IN THE NECK
Tell Me You Love Me, HBO, 9 pm/ET, Sunday
Check out his soft-core porn show that your grandmother asked you about at your break-the-fast dinner.

Curb Your Enthusiasm, HBO, 10 pm/ET, Sunday
Larry has some issues when hot Tia Carrere starts working near his bathroom.

Then there’s the return of Desperate Housewives, ABC, 9pm/ET, Sunday and Brothers & Sisters, ABC, 10 pm/ET, Sunday, if you’re into that sort of thing.

Today Show Dance-Off!

by tv-now 9/28/2007 6:21:45 PM

I know we hit the Today show topic kind of hard in this blog, but we seriously dig it. Especially the fourth hour. We love watching what they come up with to fill it up. Today, they announced the winners of a dance-off (!) between the three fourth-hour anchors: Ann Curry, Natalie Morales and Hoda Kotb… and a guest dancer, Tiki Barber. Awesome.

Their respective dances were hip-hop, tango, country and cha-cha. Again, awesome. Click on the pic below to check out the winner’s hot moves. Matt Lauer gave the award.

Grey's Anatomy Season Premiere

by tv-now 9/28/2007 5:04:17 PM

I watched it last night. Gotta say, really weird without Isaiah Washington… and Kate Walsh. It’s like the show is missing a big, masculine presence. I’m not saying that to slight Kate, but honestly, she is a very powerful, sharp woman. It just seemed that the show was too soft with no hard edges last night. Seriously!
